Welcome our New Art Instructor

We’re excited to have a new art instructor at Ledge Craft Lane – someone many of you may know.

Welcome aboard Tina Martzke!

If you know Tina, you know that she has demonstrated her artistic abilities for a number of years in the Grand Ledge community. And, according to Tina, her interest in the arts goes back to her childhood …

“Making art has, from a young child, been a part of who I am. For as long as I can remember 'seeing' details in nature and the world around us has been natural for me.

I painted as a child and took art classes in high school as well as in college. I taught art in the public schools and have taught several other classes along the way, both for children and adults.

I work in many mediums from clay and sculpture to painting. I use watercolor, water-based oils, acrylic, gauche, and alcohol ink, both realistic and abstract. I especially enjoy exploring with color.” Tina also does calligraphy professionally.

Tina will be teaching alcohol ink classes at Ledge Craft Lane this summer. The classes will be offered on Mondays - June 3,10, 17 and July 8,15, 22 - from 10am-noon and 6-8pm.

Class description: Alcohol ink is a wonderful media in which to work. The media is very "beginner friendly" and the finished work can vary from painting to painting depending on the amount of alcohol used. Different techniques will be introduced throughout the class. Come and enjoy working with this beautiful medium!

Here are some examples of Tina’s work in alcohol inks. As you can see, alcohol inks are absolutely beautiful – the colors are so striking!

Have no doubt that you can learn to paint with this vivid medium. For more information and registration, call Tina at 517-627-2686 (h) or 517-614-4204 (c).

We are looking forward to Tina joining the artist group at Ledge Craft Lane and sharing her amazing art with the community.
