Hey – we’ve got a new artist at LCL and I think you’ll want to check him out.
His name is Ron Rademacher, also known as an explorer, storyteller and the man who holds the record for getting lost the most times on the back roads of Michigan!
If you haven’t guessed by now, Ron is an author with six books to his credit about the back roads of Michigan:
· Road Trips
· Trails & Treasures
· 3 Day Getaways
· Oddities & Rarities
· Quick & Easy Getaways
· Best Kept Secrets (more about this below)
And each book has a map, showing the location of each topic/place by page number.
Ron has always been a traveling man, spending 16 years in the fashion industry involved in the design, manufacture and marketing of women’s shoes, bags and accessories. This work took him to all but four states in the US as well as several countries in Europe and the Orient.
Then came 10 years traveling the arts and crafts fair circuit throughout Michigan, creating and marketing rustic log and twig furniture. From those travels came the idea for Michigan Back Roads, his series of books promoting Michigan getaways.
Ron’s website www.michiganbackroads.com and his other getaway websites were visited more than 179,000 times last year. His newsletter “Travel in Michigan” is published via email on the first of each month. Ron can also be heard on 25 radio stations across Michigan each week on the Steve Gruber Show and other programs.
Now, for his book Best Kept Secrets, you probably can’t tell from the picture above, so here it is again:
Does that cover look familiar? Do you recognize those “rocks”? If you guessed the Ledges, you are correct!
Not only is the cover a photo of the Ledges but the picture was shot by one of our locals, Christian Keathleyad.
There’s more! Grand Ledge has a chapter in this book! Page 27!
Come on down and check out Ron’s books. There’s really something for everyone. And keep in mind that Christmas is right around the corner. These are great gift ideas!
