If you love the arts, if you love the outdoors, or if you simply love a fun time on an island, join us on Saturday, August 3rd for the 46th Annual Island Art Fair in Grand Ledge.
Ledge Craft Lane, sponsor of this popular fair, has been bringing art and craft creators together with art and craft lovers since the 1970s.
Thousands roam the Island every year discovering the talent of fine art artists, amazing woodworkers, clever t-shirt creators, unique jewelry, potters who have molded just what you need, fabric geniuses, and always the “wish I’d thought of that” or “how did they do that” artwork! Plus much more!
Terry Dankenbring, long-time Grand Ledge resident, will cut the ribbon at the entrance to the Island to start the festivities. Leading the way across the bridge to the Island will be the musical group, Punch Drunk. Once on the Island, be sure to pick up a program which will list all vendors and their locations on the Island.
From there, you will discover 70+ art vendors and their wonderful creations. And there are some activities you won’t want to miss, especially if you bring the kids. McNeilly Photography will have a Photo Booth (with Grand Ledge backgrounds), portrait painting by local artist Arlene Bragg, face painting for kids by Kaylin Janiczek along with her stilt walker, yes, she’ll be stilt walking, and big bubbles floating in the air, courtesy of Bubbles R Fun!
As you stroll the Island, enjoy the music of Mickey Cyrus, Eugenia Arens, Mike Coll, Leo Ackerman, Punch Drunk, Ed Young, Bob Swartwood, Mike Arnold, Brandon McCoy, Jonah Whaley and Kelly Waters. Check our next blog for their schedule.
And what’s more fun than a riverboat ride on the Grand Princess? You will be able to enjoy your ride from 10am-4pm. Adult tickets are $10 while children 12 years and under are $3.
For special treats, members of the Lions Club will be serving your favorites from A&W, Summertime Freeze will be offering snow cones, cotton candy and caramel popcorn, and Vending Ice Cream Novelties will be serving up their delicious ice cream. Soft drinks and water will also be available.
Mark your calendars now for next Saturday, August 3rd from 10am-5pm for the Island Art Fair. Admission is FREE. See you there!
