The Grand Ledge High School art students are Ledge Craft Lane’s Artists of the Month for March.
Thirty art students are exhibiting forty-five artworks, as selected by their instructors Sarah Johnson and Doris Thompson. The artists are Anna Butkovich, Filicity Coffin, Payton Cole, Samantha Churchill, Grace DeGeest, Sierra DeRosia, Alyssa Girga, Rachel Golisch, Carter Gough, Savanna Graham, Brianna Haarer, Jala Howard, Alaina Humphrey, Kassidy Kain, Katherine Kalmbach, Rhyan Kennedy, Lakaia Keshick, Sophia Kraus, Aspen Locker, Margaret Mullins, Evelin Priska, Gabrielle Rafail, Rome Ruedisueli, Alexis Schineman, Samuel Todd, Michael Turcotte, Elizabeth Verburg, Jordan Visser, Janna Vukovich and Grace Weston.
The Grand Ledge High School visual art teachers, Sarah Johnson and Doris Thompson, work diligently to provide an art program that balances structure with opportunity. The visual art students can develop their unique individual artistic vision, while receiving encouragement to show creativity in their artwork.
Sarah Johnson is in her 2nd year as a high school art teacher. Presently, she is teaching Art 1, Drawing, and Printmaking. Doris Thompson is in her thirty-first year of teaching art for Grand Ledge schools. Presently, she is teaching Metals and Jewelry Design 1 and 2, Drawing, Sculpture, and Studio Art. She also teaches Dual-Enrollment art classes for Kendall College of Art and Design after school at the high school.
